I’m about to celebrate three years (WOOO!) here on the central coast. High Street Deli was the very first place I visited in SLO to eat, on the first day I officially moved to SLO. High Street Deli was HIGHLY recommended by Ricky (my brother-in-law).
My sister and I went there for lunch, and to this day I remember how friendly, and helpful the gal at the counter was to us when we went there. “We just moved here from Minnesota, we are sooo excited!” It was a stellar first impression of the restaurant, and the food was delicious too!
Fast forward three years later, and conveniently I live only a few blocks from High Street Deli, so it’s kind of become my favorite “easy” spot to visit.
I most often visit for breakfast, as breakfast is my favorite meal of the day after all. Most important meal too…. or so they say.
Eggs, bacon, melted cheddar, mayo, light mustard, red onion, tomato, romaine and avocado on toasted sliced sourdough is my breakfast sando of choice. Pictured here, I go sans onion (I was planning on kissing later). Fact about this picture, I shared this on my personal Instagram (angeeleeta to follow), and I WON a free sando from High Street Deli! That’s right, once a week, High Street Deli chooses a fan photo that they are tagged in, repost said photo and the photo poster earns themselves a free sando! Free is my favorite.
I just redeemed my free sando a few days ago, and choose the BEEF DIP DOOBIE STYLE – Roast beef dipped in Au Jus, jack cheese, chipotle mayo, Dijon, pepperoncinis, red onion and pickle on a toasted French roll. Served with a side of mac or potato salad and Au Jus. Again, no onions for this chick, don’t judge.

This sando was YUM-O. I shared it with my yard mate Victoria, and we were both happy gals after dipping it in the au jus and enjoying the side of mac-n-cheese.

- It is the highest rated place to dine in SLO on Yelp at 4.5 stars and over 600 reviews.
- They have a 4:20 special, all sando’s are $4.20 from 4:20 pm to 5:30 pm. Expect a long line.
- Their High Scream Pie ice cream sando’s are hand dipped.
- Established in 1927 – that’s a long time!
- Kombucha on tap, as well as root beer, iced tea; and more craft beers then I can count by the bottle.
- Adorable outdoor seating, and open 7 days a week.
